Waterproof Mirror Reflection Photoelectric Sensor Switch Tutorial

Use M3 screws with 12mm washers, tighten below 0.5N·m. Set NO/NC mode by pressing SmartTune twice. For max sensitivity, hold SmartTune until indicators flash. Matte objects: avoid 100mm zone. Glossy objects: maximize distance L. Timer function delays output off. Set fixed or custom delay via SmartTune. Disable timer by waiting 10s in setting mode. Safety: avoid eye exposure, use DC power, ground properly. It's like configuring a smart home sensor for optimal performance and safety.

Instructions for Use

1、 Installation

  • Use M3 screws with washers (12mm long)

  • Tightening torque should be below 0.5N·m

Note 1: Unless there are special power supply requirements, a standard 24V DC supply is recommended.

3、Basic Settings

  • NO/NC Setting

Press the SmartTune button twice in quick succession (short presses) to set Normally Open / Normally Closed mode.

Mode No Target Object Detected Target Object Detected
Normally Open (NO) Stability indicator ON, Operation indicator OFF, Output OFF Stability indicator ON, Operation indicator ON, Output ON
Normally Closed (NC) Stability indicator ON, Operation indicator ON, Output ON Stability indicator ON, Operation indicator OFF, Output OFF
  • Maximum Sensitivity Setting

Step Adjustment AdjustmentAdjustment
1 Secure the sensor body and the reflector. With no target object present, press and hold the SmartTune button until the Stability indicator and the Operation indicator flash alternately Suitable for detecting non-reflective transparent objects or opaque objects
2 Release the SmartTune button to complete the setting (if the device is subject to vibration, wait until one vibration cycle has ended before performing this step)
  • Matte Opaque Objects or Translucent Objects

Conventional Installation Detection Diagram

Note 2: The 100mm zone shown here means the reflector must not be placed within this zone. Opaque objects should be detected at a distance greater than 100mm, and for transparent objects, the distance between the reflector and the sensor body should be increased appropriately.

Note 3: A reflector is supplied with the product. Do not replace the reflector arbitrarily, as this may affect product performance.

  • Glossy Opaque Objects or Reflective Transparent Objects

Special Installation Detection Diagram

Note 4: The distance L shown in the diagram should be increased as much as possible.

4、 Indicator Feedback

After the setting is completed, the Stability indicator (green) and the Operation indicator (orange) provide feedback on the completion status: the Stability indicator is green and the Operation indicator is orange. After power-on and completion of the setting, if the Stability indicator stays ON, the setting was successful; if the Stability indicator stays OFF, the setting failed; if both the Stability indicator and the Operation indicator flash rapidly, this indicates an output short circuit.

5、 Timer Function

In some applications, the sensor output signal needs to turn off after a certain delay. For example, when controlling a relay, the relay may need to stay on for a while to allow the equipment to operate normally before being switched off. Such requirements normally call for a PLC, a timer module, or a more advanced fiber-optic sensor. The PR series sensors integrate a simple "Off-Delay" timer function to achieve delayed turn-off of the output signal.

  • Timer Introduction
This sensor features a built-in simple "Off-Delay" timer. When this timer is enabled, the output signal and the orange indicator, which would otherwise turn off immediately, remain ON until the user-specified time has elapsed, and then turn off.

  • Fixed Delay Time Setting

  • Press the SmartTune button 10 or more times in succession (with an interval of less than 1 second between each press), then wait 1 second. The green and orange indicators will turn off simultaneously, indicating that the sensor has entered Timer Setting Mode

  • Refer to the table below and select the desired delay time by the number of SmartTune button presses. The indicators will flash alternately in response to each press

  • After selecting the time, wait 10 seconds. The green and orange indicators will flash simultaneously several times, the setting is complete, and the sensor returns to Normal Detection Mode

  • Custom Delay Time Setting

  • Press the SmartTune button 10 or more times in succession (with an interval of less than 1 second between each press), then wait 1 second. The green and orange indicators will turn off simultaneously, indicating that the sensor has entered Timer Setting Mode

  • With no target object present, press and hold the SmartTune button until the green indicator and the orange indicator flash alternately (do not release the button after they start flashing alternately)

  • Pass an object through the sensor beam so that it is detected. The sensor starts timing at this moment. When you release the function button, the timer setting is complete and the sensor returns to Normal Detection Mode. The set delay time is the time from when the object is detected until the SmartTune button is released

  • Disabling the Timer Function

  • Press the SmartTune button 10 or more times in succession (with an interval of less than 1 second between each press), then wait 1 second. The green and orange indicators will turn off simultaneously, indicating that the sensor has entered Timer Setting Mode

  • Do not perform any operation and wait 10 seconds. The green and orange indicators will flash simultaneously several times, the setting is complete, the timer is disabled, and the sensor returns to Normal Detection Mode

6、 Safety Precautions

  • Danger

  • Do not expose the human eye to the light beam for extended periods

  • Do not use the product outdoors, or in environments subject to water spray, high humidity, oil contamination, hazardous locations, or potentially explosive gases

  • Warning

  • This product is powered by DC. Do not apply AC power. Applying an AC voltage may cause the product to explode or catch fire

  • Avoid placing the product in areas with excessively high temperatures or corrosive gases, as this will affect the product's service life

  • Caution

  • Be sure to connect the grounding terminal of the power supply equipment enclosure to earth ground

  • For highly transparent or reflective objects, if false detection still occurs after repeated adjustment, a timer delay can be set for debouncing
