Getting Started
This guide introduces the precautions for the use of BMV080 sensor, covering the start-up sequence, installation measurement and maintenance requirements. It is necessary to collect data after the sensor is powered on and preheated, standardize the installation conditions, do a good job of protection and regular lens cleaning to avoid damaging the optical structure.
Usage Notes
Power-up Timing Requirement
After power-on, the BMV080 performs hardware initialization, laser warm-up, optical system self-test and other procedures. Minimum hardware startup time: 1.9 s; maximum startup time under interrupt mode: 2.9 s. Standard integration convergence takes 10 s, and full high-precision stabilization requires 30 s warm-up. To prevent abnormal data reading, the host firmware shall implement logic of ≥2.9 s initialization delay plus ready status check. Read data only after sensor hardware startup completes, the 10 s integration cycle finishes, and no block/out-of-range alarm exists.
Installation & Measurement Requirements
- Measuring distance: For the white reflective surface perpendicular to the laser emission direction of BMV080, the distance between sensor and measured surface shall be ≥350 mm.
- Block handling: Temporary blockage causes data interruption. Normal output resumes once blockage is removed.
- Pin header soldering: If pin headers are used, solder them on the back side of the sensor (pin headers facing down) to avoid blocking the laser lens.
Maintenance Guidelines
- Do not disassemble or pry open the optical protective cover. Sensor will be permanently disabled once the cover is opened.
- Avoid dropping and heavy impact during use. Optical cover and lens assembly may crack or detach under shock.
- Mount the device away from continuously vibrating equipment such as fans and motors. Long-term resonance may degrade the fixation structure of the optical cover.
- For high humidity and heavy oil fume applications, circuit part of the device is recommended to be fully sealed. An optical window with qualified transparent optical cover must be reserved at the sensor lens area to prevent moisture and oil contaminants from adhering directly to the original lens and damaging the bonding structure of the cover.
- Dust accumulation on BMV080 transparent protective cover reduces light transmission, degrades measurement accuracy and may trigger block alarm. Inspect and clean the lens periodically (use lint-free cloth for gentle wiping).
