Overview
The LattePanda IOTA M.2 M-Key Expansion Board is a dedicated expansion module designed specifically for the LattePanda IOTA. It enables seamless integration of M.2 NVMe SSDs, significantly enhancing storage capacity and read/write performance.
Ideal for embedded applications requiring high-capacity local storage, such as:

Installation Guide
Hardware Setup
Required Items:
- M.2 M-Key Expansion Board ×1
- 16-Pin FPC Cable ×1
- M3 Hex Standoff ×2
- M3 Screw ×2
- M2 Screw ×1 (for M.2 2280 device mounting)
- M2 Screw and Hex Standoff set ×1 (for M.2 2230 device mounting)
- M.2 NVMe SSD or M.2 M-Key device ×1 (not included)
Step-by-Step Installation

Power Off
Disconnect all power from the LattePanda Iota. -
Install Hex Standoff
- Remove the two existing M3 screws securing the heatsink/fan near the HDMI/USB-C ports.
- Install the M3 hex standoffs into these mounting holes.

Mount Expansion Board
- Align the expansion board’s mounting holes with the installed standoffs.
- Secure the board using the M3 screws.

Connect FPC Cable
- Insert one end of the FPC cable into the LattePanda IOTA’s 16-pin FPC connector (gold contacts facing DOWN).
- Lock the connector latch firmly.
- Repeat for the other end: insert into the expansion board’s 16-pin FPC connector (gold contacts facing DOWN).

Install M.2 Device
- Insert the NVMe SSD (or other M.2 M-Key device) into the M.2 slot.
- Press down and secure with the appropriate M2 screw (depending on 2230 or 2280 size).

Final Check
- Verify all screws are tightened.
- Confirm the FPC cable is firmly locked in place.
- Power on the device — the PWR LED should illuminate.
Driver Installation
Upon system boot:
- NVMe SSD:
Usually auto-recognized with native drivers. No action required.
