Using the seeMoteViewer Cap App

After preparing the development environment and connecting the seeMote Cube, install and launch seeMoteViewer on Apple Vision Pro.

Install and Launch seeMoteViewer

  1. Open seeMoteViewer.xcodeproj in Xcode.

  2. In the Xcode toolbar, open the run destination menu.

  3. Select the connected Apple Vision Pro.

  4. Click Run to build, install, and launch seeMoteViewer.

  5. When launching the app for the first time, follow the instructions on Apple Vision Pro to grant the required permissions.

Start the Experience

  1. Launch seeMote Cap Viewer on Apple Vision Pro.
  2. Confirm that the app shows the Cap as connected.
  3. Select Start Experience.
  4. Move and rotate the physical tool to view its tracking result.

Select a Model

Open Select Model to switch between the available virtual models. The app provides three virtual models by default: seeMote Cap, Wrench, and Shield.

1. seeMote Cap Model

Select the seeMote Cap model to directly observe the tracking performance of the seeMote Cap itself.

When testing this model, do not hold the seeMote Cap directly, as your hand may block the infrared tracking points and reduce tracking performance. It is recommended to connect a USB Type-C cable and move the seeMote Cap by holding the cable near the connector.

2. Wrench Model

After mounting the seeMote Cap on a physical wrench, a virtual wrench attached to the physical wrench will appear in Apple Vision Pro. This model demonstrates the tracking performance of the seeMote Cap when mounted on a handheld tool.

For an experience consistent with this example, use the following file to 3D print the wrench:Wrench_V1.0.stl

Use a 1/4"-20 screw (1/4-20 × 8 mm, L2 = 6 mm) to secure the seeMote Cap to the 3D-printed wrench. The mounting position and orientation are shown below:

3. Shield Model

Attach the seeMote Cap to the inside of your forearm and raise your arm. A virtual shield attached to your arm will appear in Apple Vision Pro. This model demonstrates the virtual effects that can be achieved when the seeMote Cap is worn on the body.

If the selected virtual model is not properly aligned, check the mounting orientation of the seeMote Cap.

Place a Digital Replica

Press the physical ‘link’ button on the Cap to place a digital replica in the current position.

You can also select Place Digital Replica in the app.

Clear the Scene

Select Clear Scene to remove all digital replicas from the immersive space.

Exit the Experience

Turn off Start Experience or exit the immersive space to end the experience.

Troubleshooting

seeMote Cap Frequently Loses Tracking, Fails to Recover After Tracking Is Lost, Tracks Inaccurately, or Freezes in Place

If any of these issues occur, check the following:

  • Make sure that the infrared tracking points on the seeMote Cap are not obstructed and that there are no significant reflections nearby. For instructions on checking for obstructions and reflections, refer to Mount the seeMote Cap on Other Tools.
  • Make sure that the seeMote Cap has sufficient battery power.
  • The recommended tracking distance for the seeMote Cap is approximately 80 cm. During use, keep the seeMote Cap within approximately 80 cm of the Apple Vision Pro—roughly within arm’s reach.
  • Avoid using the seeMote Cap in direct sunlight or near other strong light sources, as they may interfere with the detection of the infrared tracking points.
